Upgrade to SSD to Speed Up Startup Windows 10
If you are using a mechanical hard drive and want to improve your computer's boot time, switching to an SSD is a good choice, and the effect is immediate. Although with less capacity, SSDs have much better performance than HDDs. By upgrading to an SSD, Windows 10 will take less time to boot up.
Do a clean install of Windows 10 If none of the previous three tips worked, you can choose to do a clean install of Windows 10/11 on your computer.
Here are a few things you can try to speed up the startup process:
Remove unnecessary programs at startup: Type "msconfig" in the search box and press Enter. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck any program that you don't need to start when you turn on your computer.
Remove junk files: You can use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove temporary files, system files, and other unnecessary data.
Disable unnecessary services: Type "services" in the search box and press Enter. Go through the list of services and disable any that are not necessary for your system.
Upgrade your hardware: If your computer is really slow, consider upgrading your hardware. Adding more RAM or replacing your hard drive with a solid-state drive can make a big difference in performance.
Perform a clean install of Windows: If all else fails, you can try doing a clean install of Windows. This will erase everything on your computer and start fresh with a clean installation of the operating system.
Tweak BIOS/UEFI (Advanced)
In BIOS you may:
- Enable virtualization and other CPU facilities.
- Turn of power saving.
- Remove DVD from booting devices.
- Disable devices that are not used or broken (e.g. NIC, floppy).

Windows 10 though an excellent operating system but sometimes can be a pain in the arse when it doesn’t work smoothly. To make it buttery smooth one can do the following:
- Replace your HDD with SSD, it is several times faster than HDD as it has no moving parts.
- Increase your RAM size, 8GB and higher is recommended.
- Turn on automatic updates, connect to the internet and let it complete.
- Uninstall irrelevant apps and remove any cracked/ pirated apps if present and switch to FOSS based software.
